/usr/lib/libxml2.la ?

I noticed that the snaps for libxml2-devel don't include the files:
/usr/lib/libxml2.a
/usr/lib/libxml2.la

but the latest Rawhide and other versions of the rpm do.  Does anyone
know why this is?  Is it a bug or a conscious choice not to include the
static archive?  It's not a big deal, I've just had some problems
compiling stuff that looks for libxml2.la (e.g. autotrace).
