If they were to try to estimate a release date for you, and then they ended up discovering a few showstopping bugs around that date, they couldn't very well ship with those showstoppers. Yet, they'd have announced a date, and so then people would rag on them for being late, and they'd get a bad reputation! "When It's Ready" is the only real answer for many software delivery schedules. Also, I don't think Ximian's support services include the guarantee to pump employees for internal release information. ;) It'll happen when it happens... patience, man!
