Desktop 2 and Suse 9.1 Professional

I originally started out with Suse desktop 1.0 - but even after paying $99
to Ximian for red carpet service, never got Desktop 2 to work.  I just
purchased Suse 9.1 professional from amazon.com and, I'm trying to install
Desktop 2 on 9.1- The automated (black box) Ximian installer just gets 1/2
way through the install and says that the target distribution is unknown -
and all you can do is cancel.

My real question, after buying all this software - does any of it work?
