Man, you are very light on information...

Unfortunately "adding to the lookups" isn't a technical term uniquely
describing the action. Where did you add it? A local DNS server or
your /etc/hosts file? Seems like resolving this name fails from other
machines than the server.

If you added it to a local DNS, you are having DNS issues with your
server or clients. Fix that.

If you added it to the servers /etc/hosts file, this sure cannot work
for any other machine, until you added that line to every clients hosts
file.

This isn't related to Ximian software and it doesn't even seem to be
related to Apache.


As resolving the IP doesn't work, I suspect it's not a public machine.
No need to masq internal IPs, you won't leak any valuable information.
It just makes understanding harder...

Resolve your DNS and network issues.

Why do you think this questions is related to Ximian software? Can you
ping that server using its name? Does 'resolveip' return anything? Any
firewall in between? What's the actual network setup?
