evolution 1.4.6 deterioration

Hi, I have noticed a serious deterioration in evolution's performance. The program grinds to a halt. I have to wait to resume writing. This is happening as I write this email - e.g., there is no `echo' of my typing. I use suse linux pro 9.1. This malfunction seems to occur only with evolution.
