MS Lookout replacement

I have tried to migrate my laptop from XP to Linux. One of the main blockers is Office (specificaly Outlook 2003). I have tried to get Wine to work it's majic but failed. Figured I would take a leap and try to jump directly to Ximian Evolution. I just want to demo it prior to going through the expense efforts for corp to purchase (on a side note.. feedback on to what exactly I should purchase would be great). Here is the error I am gettings. Do the download and the gui installer starts. Detects I have RedHat 9 (or SuSE 9 for the other install attempts). Tell it to use Ximian Carpet Express for the install location. Put in my name and contact info. It the gives me the error "The installer was unable to find any Ximian products for your operating system. Please report the full text of this error to <support.ximian.com/ask>. installer-ng 1.2.6 on Red Hat Linux 9" Google yeilds nothing of interest. I know it has to be something stupid. The only modifcation I made to the system was I build 2.6.5 kernel to fix some ATI video issues (and because it was their:>). Thx.
