Re: Adding a printer?

I have/had a similar problem.  

SuSE 9.0 Personal w/ XD2....

I tried using regular CUPS through http://localhost:631/ with the same
problem.  I went to the cups config file (/etc/cups/cupsd.conf) and saw
that the AuthType was "BasicDigest".  I changed it to "Basic".  No joy. 
I changed it to "Digest" and ran lppasswd -g sys -a root and made sure
root was a member of group sys.

Then, I was able to get in with Mozilla to the web interface of CUPS and
set up my printer.  Test page was successful.  Yeah!

Now, in Evo 1.4, OOo, et al., my newly configured printer doesn't show
as available.  I ran the command Mark suggested and got the following:

linux1:/home/root # /opt/gnome/bin/gnome-cups-add
 
(gnome-cups-add:10351): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session
manager:Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication
protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.

Actually, now that I think of it, I may have trouble running anything
with a GUI as root, except for YaST2 for some reason.  Any ideas there?

Any ideas why my CUPS printer, which appears to be installed correctly,
doesn't show in those apps or in System->Personal Settings->Printers?
