Red Carpet freezes on verifying k_deflt

SuSE 9.0 Personal XD2 Subject says it all. Here's the output from rug.... linux1:/home/root # rug update The following requested packages will be installed: k_deflt 2.4.21-215 (suse-90-i586) xchat 2.0.4-71.ximian.8.3 (Ximian Desktop 2) 2 packages will be installed. This is a 25.02M download. Do you want to continue? [y/N] y Download complete Verifying xchat Verifying k_deflt Still there after a good 30 minutes. I've left it there for hours without any change. I would have expected some sort of failure or success in less than about a minute at the most. It's just some sort of CRC or MD5 checksum, right? I've tried rpm --rebuilddb just in case. No help.
