List of mails was suddenly empty

Hi all, I am using Ximian Evolution 1.4 on fedora linux. I configured it about a week ago and migrated my old evolution mails to the new version. This worked fine. I had access to all of my folders and all of my messages during the first days, but suddenly, without beeing aware of any change, I can't see my messages anymore. In the Folders-Subwindow I still se the structure of the folders and also the numbers of unread messages, but if I select a folder which should contain new messages I see no messages at all (neither read nor unread). The mail list on the right just stais empty. I recognized also that there are now column titles (but at the moment I am not sure if there should be any in case of an empty window). Is it possible that just my column settings are lost? If so, how can I restore the column settings (the set of columns like sender-address and title which should be displayed in the list of messages). I couldn't find the place where it could be done.
