CPU usage of 5% in 6.2.4 may be normal, but should be negligible in 6.2.5. The way to handle input was changed. As you may know, the UCI mode is not intended for human interaction, but mainly for interaction with programs such as chess GUIs. Moreover, UCI 'go' is not the same as GNU Chess 'go' command (non UCI mode). If you want to play a game in UCI mode interactively, you should type other UCI commands before go, mainly, ucinewgame. The UCI standard includes an example.
