I have made binary RPMS for RedHat 9 for 1.7.26 available on

  ftp.lilypond.org/pub/LilyPond/binaries/RedHat-9

These require an updated version of GUILE (1.6.4-7.1 or newer), which
is available from the RedHat Rawhide distribution, see eg.

ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/RedHat/ftp/redhat/linux/rawhide/i386/RedHat/RPMS/guile-1.6.4-7.1.i386.rpm
