Re: AI is not a solution

I'm no longer professionally in IT, and never was in software
development, but I recently had an interesting conversation with two
friends who are.
Both their companies expect job candidates to use AI in their technical
interview.  Candidates who do not do so will lose credit.
My friends each use AI to inspire solutions to difficult programming
problems.
We identified a couple of issues:
1.  Where an AI-inspired solution involves major code change, the value
of source code control is diminished, and human comprehension of the
code base can be eroded.
2.  Older programmers have "earned their stripes" and can presumably
assess AI-contributed code with their critical faculties engaged. 
There is some concern whether AI will, over time, remove selection
pressure for such a skill from the programming gene pool.
