Hello,

I expected the job to be as huge as you say. It is certainly only
possible to do it chapter by chapter as you have time and capacity.

I have read the translation guidelines already, at least the ones which
pertain to what I offer to do, and I have checked the software
requirements: GNU Make, git, python3, gettext are all there already on
my machine.

I am not an experienced git user and have forgotten most of my
knowledge, but this can be rescuscitated of course - two years ago I
rewrote the German Frescobaldi translation from scratch, which also was
quite outdated.

If I understood you correctly, the German NR is quite out of sync with
the English one, right?

I would only translate the English text to German and not touch
LilyPond code or the internal organisation (chapters, sections etc.),
at least not without asking someone's advice.

Would it make sense at all to compare my translation to the actual
state of the German translation?

Lastly: Which version of the NR am I going to edit? The 2.27.1 one or
the 2.26 stable one? Where do I get the file from? What do I have to
tell git?

Maybe my last questions are a bit stupid, but I put them anyway, since
I have never had to do with editing LilyPond documentation.

Best wishes

Hajo
