The meta-data record remains in the database after installation, but there are no associated files. If you want to remove the meta-data record, your *only* option is to do so explicitly; you may wish to add a "description" element, within the "component" spec, with a "paragraph" to explain this. > If I don't give a spec for the 3.x class mingw-get complains of course > but the remnants are proper. I don't understand your point. If you don't add the meta-component spec, then the 4.x version remains installed; with the meta-component, that is removed, to be replaced by meta-data. What complaint do you see from mingw-get? > Suggestions? > I've attached the current revision. I don't think you can do better. My one residual concern is the order in which the "requires" elements are processed. you may need to tweak the order in which they are declared, to ensure that the "doc" class component is processed *before* the "dev", lest removal of the 4.x-doc package may delete some files already replaced by installing 3.x-dev. (This is why it is such a bad idea to have similarly named files in multiple package archives of differing classes, or differently named package collections). -- Regards, Keith. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Minimize network downtime and maximize team effectiveness.
