[bug #67965] *Huge* number of audio messages from "make check"

Follow-up Comment #27, bug #67965 (group octave):

So yes, I think the more wide-ranging approach to capture stderr is the better
solution that can be used in other places within Octave. If it can only show
up in Octave 12 instead of Octave 11 that's OK.
