Follow-up Comment #13, bug #47173 (group octave):
Just observing that I came across something similar recently while fixing
N-dimensional indexing of 2-D matrices (which should throw an error). The
problem is that Octave was collapsing the N-D index into a 2-D index. This
preserves the number of rows, and all other elements are put into the second
dimension (columns). This same thing is happening here.
