Help: RCS File in use

Hello --

I am getting a strange error when attempting to check in a new version of 
an SQR into RCS.

It started with the attempt to check a version in and while typing in a 
description at the >
prompt I must have inadvertently hit <cntl>-something which kicked me out 
of RCS.

However, now when trying the check in a version I get the following error:


$ ci gtapp595.sqr
ci: RCS file gtapp595.sqr,v is in use

How can I get RCS to understand that the file is not in use?
