Well, screen understands the sequence but doesn't know how to change
the window title of the terminal. Add
termcapinfo xterm 'hs:ts=\E]2;:fs=\007:ds=\E]2;screen\007'
to your ~/.screenrc file and it should work (this assumes $TERM
is 'xterm' before you start screen).
