I know. I meant his "eval 'screen..." "idle off" solution.

It's the caption line.

The only thing I can add is that the caption line goes up in the same
way when I resize rxvt to the maximum and then back again to the
default under Cygwin/Windows. But cmatrix and screen are running under
Gentoo Linux.
