Indeed, anayzing observed ICS games only seems to work in zippy mode, 
and then the engine also plays. Of course it is understandable that in 
order to analyze you would need an engine, and when in plain -ics mode, 
(i.e. not -zp), no engine will be loaded.

I guess what you would want is a mode where the engine does not play, 
but can be set analyzing the current position when you are observing or 
examining an ICS game. Such a mode is currently not supported. It does 
sound like a good idea to have one, though.
