Hi everyone, My name is Tharindu Mathew, and I'm from Sri Lanka. I hope I'm not too late to talk about a GSoC project, as I've got enrolled in school recently (Master's @ Purdue) and became eligible to apply last week. A bit of history about myself: I've been mainly programming in Java for about 6 years for work/university. So, I have some expertise in Java. I hope that doesn't disqualify me immediately from submitting a successful proposal for GSoC for Crystal Space (Please let me know if it does). That being said, I'm good in Javascript and currently teaching myself C as well as C++. I've participated in GSoC before in 2008 and worked for the Apache Harmony project. My work is mentioned at [1][2]. I've also contributed to the Apache Synapse and Apache Axis2 projects. Also, I'm good at the maths parts as well (matrices, vectors, transformations, etc.) but need to brush that up as I haven't used it too much lately :) I don't have plans for this summer as I'll be free of work and school and will be able to take on a task fully. I've always been a fan of making games and am currently trying my hands on making a 2D game for Android. My main goal in doing a project for Crystal Space is to become an expert in C++ and 3d graphics programming. I've gone through the ideas page at [3] and most of seem to allow me to achieve my goal. I believe many folks must already be wanting to do the game showing CS capabilities and such. Would 'Improvements of the collision and physics simulation systems' still be open to take on? If not, could you suggest a project that is not keenly contested to submit a proposal on? PS: I'm checking out the source code, and is in the process of building it [1] - http://wiki.apache.org/general/SoC2008SuccessStories [2] - http://harmony.apache.org/newshistory.html [3] - http://www.crystalspace3d.org/trac/CS/wiki/SoC%20Ideas -- Regards, Tharindu blog: http://mackiemathew.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Try New Relic Now & We'll Send You this Cool Shirt New Relic is the only SaaS-based application performance monitoring service that delivers powerful full stack analytics.
