my problem with borrowing from D@H is that i'm not even sure that
tensegrities should be evolved towards locomotion.  part of the reason
is been-there-done-that, but also i'm thinking about applications in
architecture.   regardless, though, you're right that it's a good idea
to have some kind of energy economy at work, and energy can be a
reward for anything we want.

think about embryology and gestation and the like.  does a developing
baby in the womb have to perform some task in order to get growth
energy?  no, of course not, they are parasites on their mothers.
their development can be influenced by how successfully their mothers
are able to acquire nutrition.  the analogy would be to have a birth
happen only after a certiain amount of energy has been saved up
(nutrition in the egg).

anybody else have any ideas?
