Yah, this type of search never worked either. See the Gmane mirror of

One option that has recently worked for others is to export the IMatch
categories as IPTC keywords (there is a built-in script with this
facility) and then utilize Picasa 2's (Google) search engine. Very
fast! I happened to have a few such images back when I was demoing
IMatch and can confirm that this trick works. The main problem is that
Picasa is still in beta and rough around the edges, but it's still a
nice stopgap search solution.
