creating root folders

I have a database that currently has about 190 folders. A lot of them
are on DVDs.

My problem is that I cannot seem to figure out how to create root
folders for my drives. When I show the database view, most of my
folders are not showing any kind of tree structure. I've spent hours
searching th documentation to try to figure out how to get this under
control. The documentation shows a nicely organized list of folders
under a device folder. I can't find any way to make my display look
like that.

I just upgraded from 3.4.0.30 to .32.
