keywords into categories

I have begun entering keywords into the raw files in PSCS. This way
when I convert the raw to jpg or tiff, the keywords come with the
conversion. If I put categories on the raw file in IMatch, I get the
scarry message that I may loose my raw files. So I definitely don't
want that. That leaves me with doing this in PSCS.

That said, now I bring the files into IMatch and import the keywords
into categories. Here is my problem. I am using keywords in PSCS that
are identical to categories I have in IMatch. But IMatch imports the
keywords into categories by making whole new categories. Since I now,
after a couple of years of using IMatch, have an elaborate hierarchy
of categories, I don't want the importing to create duplicate
categories, that are in alphabetical order but are out of place in my
hierarchy of categories.

I am trying to tag photos for my new entry into selling stock, but
also want to be able to find the files -- preferably using my
categories. AND I only want to enter keywords or categories once, not
on every version of the same picture.

What is the solution here?
