hmmm, then it would be difficult to suppress whole pages :-(
i can see that things are more complicated than i thought...

basically, i'd like to get the -lastview behavior if i don't do 
anything, but have the freedom to overwrite this according to my "taste".

would it make sense to always have the last view of an ipe page mark 
itself (and unmark its predecessor) by default?  in addition, give the 
user the opportunity to overwrite this behaviour by unchecking the 
corresponding check box?

in ipetoipe, what about keeping -lastview in addition to -markedviews 
(nice name!)?  would they be too similar in effect?
