yes, doing a SCADA project in 1989 in Singapore I did "1200 baud RS232 
over Fiber Optic" to get to a 5 km range (Ethernet was then max 300 meters)

last year I went back to Singapore and revisited the site ... surprise, 
it was all ripped out ... and I wasn't shocked, I was happy !!

fast moving forward, now try to block your kids to a max of 10MB per day 
on their phone :-)

ok, more serious, I don't think that EXIF is too important in IOT based 
PNG files

it is for people who want a more compressed and standard variant of what 
is now RAW coming from their camera's -- and in that use-case 10-100k of 
EXIF data is just noise

if you are adding meta-data to IoT type files (I was an OT guy for 20 
years), you should anyway use your own private chunks and not some 
Japanese camera manufacturers generic format
