The point I'm trying to make is that attempting to fix CIPA2016 by copying bits into PNG and making them clear isn't likely to work; it creates a new set of rules that are likely differ from the interpretation that comes from CIPA2016 experts. Having just spent a couple of hours looking at the relevant parts of CIPA2016 it's pretty clear to me what is expected; I've managed to answer all three "I don't see why" comments above.
