Bill, you could use a text chunk (tEXt, zTXt, or iTXt) to store that kind
of information.  Just use a private keyword of your own choosing, such
as "Background Location <location info>" or "Background Image Name <name>".

What page were you looking at when you hit the bad link?  If it's one of
our pages we could probably fix it, thanks.  The current Png Extensions
document is version 1.4.0, at
http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/spec/register/pngext-1.4.0-pdg.html
