Agree, this sucks :-(

Hmmm... it has got lost from toolbox. Try 'y'/'Shift-y' - it should make
node(s) symmetrical

What do you exactly mean by these?

This can be done with XML editor (I hope it works, not tested
it for some time), with <use> nodes.
