'Shift+y' it is. But who would ever figure that out? I just thought it

Also, there is general logic for node ops:
Key - apply to currently highlighted node
Shift + Key - apply to selected nodes

This brings me to a dramatic change I'd suggest for sodipodi. I think a
inkscape like toolbar with only the basic tools and further tool options
would be great to introduce. I don't like the way the toolbars are
embedded in inkscape though. So it should be more like "gimp style",
with an extra tool option window. Another advantage of this is that
sodipodi could be using actual buttons instead of some wierd custom
widgets ;-)

I like context-sensitive dialogs too. There even
is one (tool options), and will be more.
What are you meaning by weird custom widgets?

But: there'd best be a way to have the toolbar and dialogs stay on top
of the document all of the time... I actually would love that anyway.
But I'm not sure if there's a possibility to achieve this. I'm using
metacity as window manager, others might still be using sawfisch, what
is possible for windows?

It is complex UI problem. Basically what you want, is
for all dialogs to stay on top of all documents. IMHO this
cannot be accomplished in generic way.

Oh, and since we were talking about node editing... I'd love to see a
right click menu when one has one or multiple nodes selected to have all
the options to edit a node.

Agree

And 'Del' I think should delete selected nodes.

Maybe switch Shift/WO-Shift logic then?
