Actually, I've been through this. I installed an ati 9200SE PCI in a
linux box and could not for the life of me get ati's drivers to work.
Despite their website claiming that it does do PCI support, the driver
has some AGP dependencies hard coded in so if the machine doesn't
have AGP hardware, tough luck. Trying to contact techsupport was a
disappointment as well.

That is not to say that if you have something more akin to what they
themselves develop their 'ware on it still won't work. Not everybody has
serverworks based no-AGP SMP chipsets in their machine.

The card runs fine with OpenGL on freely available drivers, altough it
doesn't support everything the card can, it seems. Don't ask me whether
or not it looks all right, only needed the damn thing for its GPU and
that need stopped well before any RAMDACs. :-)
