You need a certain amount of familiarity with the subject before you can
contribute. Also you are aware that this is a public list? It's not
typically a good plan to distribute your telephone numbers to all and
sundry.

If we can return to the initial question for a moment: Y was created to
solve three specific problems, two of which still exist - that it's a
pain to program GUIs, and that it's a pain to deal with inconsistent GUIs.

Now I'll grant that these two things are as hard as ever. But the
important thing is that I don't have to deal with them on a day-to-day
basis. I would do more if I was in the same situation as 2 years ago,
having to write and test GUIs, but thankfully I'm not.

This is a common problem with itch-scratch software, once a biggger itch
comes along it no longer gets scratched. I suspect that getting to
level n+1 in FF XI is a bigger itch for Mark than fixing Y at the moment.

Anyway, I have a new digital camera arriving soon, so at some point I'll
write some code to render the raw images from that to screen. This will
probably involve writing the picture widget for Y (with
resizing/resampling support), because I imagine the joy of low-level X
programming hasn't increased sufficiently in the last 30 months.

At least it's the truth, for what that's worth.
