Question on Developer

Why consider Gnome/KDE when Gnustep/Windowmaker is enough in this respect. And 
they are in almost early/accesible stages. I think this would be a more easy 
to reach developer environment. On the other hand I am not an expert and 
maybe I am bull...ting you. I am very sorry if something like this happens. 
But what would be the drawback ? Can you explain me? Of course if and only if 
you have time.
