Forgive me for posting off-topic, but folks interested in y-win might also
be interested in the open source project we're doing...

airWRX includes a screen server that maintains a view model in SVG, and
hands updates of that model to any number of connected screens. The server
can hold multiple models, so different screens can look at the same or
different views. Each view can be modified by any number of server apps.
Our "layout manager" takes a web-page approach to the view, as opposed to a
windowing approach.

The screen renderer is lightweight, using the underlying drawing model of
the OS it's running on. It isn't a rendering engine.

We're emphasizing our application over our development toolkit, but clean
development infrastructure is the core of this project. Compatibility with
existing APIs is not an immediate priority, however.

A prototype is downloadable from our site, as is source code.
