I hope I have the right group for this question. I have a Access 2000 spl=

secured DB that refuses to let me into a table in design mode. Upon openi=

the back end in exclusive mode, I get the error message: "You can't open=20
'G:\ITS\ITS_BE.mdb' for exclusive use because another user has the databa=

open or because you do not have permissions to open exclusively." I am th=

DB admin and only I have permissions to open it exclusively. I can't say=20
that no one else has the front end open, but I do know that if any users =

logged into it, it is only thru the front end. Is this considered having =

database 'open'? If I open the back end in read only, then open the table=

design mode (only one table is offending, the rest are fine), Access tell=

With the recent, ongoing thread on inverters, could I chip in and ask
a couple of questions concerning three phase wiring please?
1. If wiring up a 4-pin three phase plug/socket, is there an analogous
mnemonic to a 240v plug (bLue, left, bRown, right, etc.)? The
conductor wires out of my converter are black, blue and brown; the
socket is marked L1, L2, L3. At the moment, I have it wired
alphabetically (i.e. black-L1)
2. On said set-up, how (if at all) can I connect a transformer
to power the machine light? As received, the machine had
the live of the light connected to one of the phase wires, and a
separate (black) neutral (?) wire. As I understand it, this would
require three phases plus neutral (5-pin plug) and send 240v into the
light. Can I just connect the transformer across any two of the phase
wires?
A tip I recently read: when wiring a plug, make the earth wire longer
than the others. If the cable pulls out, the earth is the last to 'let
go'.

I tend to be a chicken on opening leads against a suit contract. I also
know that my defense isn't very good, and I'm looking for some tips. I
know:
1) If partner bids, almost always lead his suit.
2) Rarely a non-trump suit bid by declarer. Lead a trump if the bidding
suggests the dummy is short in trumps, or that declarer will use dummy's
trumps to ruff.
3) If you have an AK, lead it (the K). Also lead the top of KQJ and QJ10.
4) If 1) through 3) don't apply, lead through dummy's suit, but don't
(usually) underlead an honor.
5) Passive leads are indicated when the bidding suggests your partner is
weak, more aggressive leads when he probably has something.
6) A low singleton is a good lead.
Questions:
1) Any changes or additions to the above?
2) When leading partner's suit, lead high/low from a doubleton. From KQx=
or
KQxx, lead the K. What about Kxx, Jxx, Qxxx, etc? Lead low (I do) or lea=
d
an honor? How about QJx?
3) I think I choose a passive lead too often, even when I think partner =
may
have some high cards (but not if he has bid a suit). I don't like to
underlead an honor, or to lead an unsupported honor, and I think this hur=
ts
me sometimes. I will lead the K from the KQx or KQxx sometimes, but that=
's
about it. Any suggestions?

I have 2 quick questions:
1) When copying & pasting formulas only the results (the answers) are
carried over to a new spreadsheet and pasted, not the formulas. I spoke t=
o a
friend who remembers a very hard to find option that adjusts this but did=
n't
remember where to find it. I called him and when he copies formulas and
pastes them, the formulas along with the answers are copied, so I know it
can be done.
2) I was using the max. 30 decimal places to do some calculating and it
worked fine on new calculations but when I copied a formula into original=
ly
formatted for 14 decimal places, the calculation only added zeros to the
last 16 places instead of adjusting the answer (which was forced into
rounding by the 14 place limit).
I hope that is clearly explained but if not, email me and I'll try to
include an example.

I would like to swap a 6.5" signature blocks with screen name, location a=
nd
year. I will recommend the block, but it will be a simple one so all lev=
els
of quilters could join. I am thinking of a simple 3.5" center block of
muslin with a 2" strip of one color on the sides and a 2" strip of anothe=
r
color on the top and bottom to end up with a 6.5" block. I would like th=
e
signature portion to be in muslin and the surrounding strips to be in two=
of
your favorite colors. Now, beware, if you join, you will be expected to
make a block for each person who also joins. All blocks should be sent t=
o
me and I will then package them up and send a pack to each member. Each s=
wap
member would then use the blocks for a quilt top or other project with al=
l
the bragging rights associated with it! I would like to post completed
projects on my website for all to see and admire.
So, if you're interested, send an email to me with "September Siggy Swap"=
in
the subject line so I can filter them into a separate folder. The deadli=
ne
for joining is September 5th. This is important so we understand how man=
y
blocks each member needs to make. I want to give everyone enough time to
make their blocks so the deadline for getting blocks to me is November 30=
th.
That's 12 weeks. Packages of a set of blocks will be assembled and maile=
d
to each member by mid-December. Please let me know if you are in the
directory so I can get your mailing addy from there. If you are not in t=
he
directory, please provide your complete mailing address, particularily if
it's an international address.
Interested? Don't forget, the block should use a muslin center and two o=
f
your favorite colors. Center block should contain your screen name,
location and date. Permenant ink only, please! Fabrics should be
prewashed.

terms of getting out quickly.
