Question about storage on a tmpfs volume

Hello,

On a Familiar 0.8.4 system, there are natively two
tmpfs volumes, mounted on :
       /media/ram/
       /var/

My question is :

Does tmpfs work as a true RAMdisk ?

If I write some files on one of these tmpfs volumes,
could I be sure that these files will stay only in
RAM, and will never be written in the Flash-ROM of the
iPAQ ?

Thanks in advance for any indication.

S. Letellier
