It can be a firewall, because you didn't "insmod" the
ip-filter or the ip-table module.

Why would a bug filter only HTTP requests ?
Did you try to do a telnet "by the hand" on a server
on port 80 ?
Try to run an Apache on your PC on port 80, then do a
telnet from your hx4700 by the hand to this serve rand
run a tcpdump on your PC (tcpdump i wlan0) and a
tcpdump on your PDA too (if you can).
So you will see if the packets can go through. It will
perhaps help.
Is it the same for https requests ?
