serial install issues

Hi, I've been trying to install Familiar 0.8.4 on my iPaq h5550 but seem
to have run into a brick wall. My guess is that possibly the serial
cable from the cradle isn't working, but I'm hoping that maybe there's
something else I've missed.

On the PDA side:
I installed the bootloader no problem, using wireless in wince, then
joypad-reset it and pressed the calender button.
It's sitting firmly in the cradle, with the serial cable (not the USB)
connected to the PC.

On the desktop side:
The serial port seems to be working - I tested it with a modem.
I've set up minicom in line with the instructions I've seen in various
places (115200, 8N1, no flow control), but nothing happens. From all
accounts minicom should bring up the boot prompt from the ipaq, but it
just stays offline.

I'm getting nothing from the iPaq either - a blank screen (which is
expected) and no lights. It doesn't appear to be a brick though, as it
buzzes each time I joypad-reset.

This is a bit frustrating, as it's effectively a brick to me at the
moment. Is there anything obvious I've missed, or am I going to have to
track down a second-hand cradle somewhere?

Thanks
David
