1) The files on the card are visible in WinCE, so the expansion sleeve
works fine.

2) I've tried with 4GB and 512MB cards. I doubt I'll be able to get
my hands on anything smaller than 512 for a few weeks, but when I do
I'll give it a shot.

I asked in #handhelds-familiar on irc.freenode.net, and someone
suggested formatting the card from Windows rather than using mkfs.vfat
in Linux. I tried that, but it didn't help. I'll keep tinkering and
post any developments.

I've also been trying to find a way to boot directly from the CF card.
Is that possible? If so, how would I go about it? The only
instructions I've found seem quite outdated and reference a file
called "linux.zip" which should be extracted to the CF card, but I
have yet to find a file by that name on handhelds.org, except one set
of instructions which references it as an old version of
BootBlaster/bootldr, perhaps.
