Would be interesting to see if my 2.6.17 kernel suffers from this problem. 
I've rewritten some of the ssp code (due to russells request) this might 
cause these (if i've made some error) issues. There is no reason why a 2GB 
shouldnt work in a jornada7xx, so it must be kernel related.

If you get a chance try the 2.6.17 kernel from the jlime website and see if 
the problem persists.
