Thats odd ... how do you mean 'works' - segs ?, doesn't display ?,
doesn't send chars ... etc ?

What version of xkbd are you running ?

Try something like;

monolaunch -k someimagefile.xpm xkbd -k /usr/local/share/xkbd/bug.xkbd

Make/edit a matchbox theme.xml with the utility-min/max frame
height/width set to zero. Have a look at the bottom of  

prefix/themes/blondie/matchbox/theme.xml
