Sound like fun and I'm sure I'd learn a lot.  But even at this moment I
should be working on an estimate for a job :(  But there are evenings
and weekends.

No, no -o.  What I meant was not have the "bar" that xkbd collapses down
to.  Visually I like the way it looks, the stacked bars, but it does
take up space. At present xstroke is either blank or shows the mode it
is in. ABC, 123, etc while activated.  I was thinking that perhaps
another  mode that says xkbd. Thats kinda what I meant, but after
explaining it I don't quite see it working.  Maybe just its own icon on
the toolbar?

Just plain disappear all the bars, tool, title, whatever. Touching the
bottom screen edge for a moment restores it.  I think icewm has a hide
mode for the tool bar.  It would be nice to have the extra height in
landscape
