Garbage output of Collie 2.6 kernel in serial console

Hello all,

I am trying to start a kernel 2.6 development on my SL5500 but have a 
problem with my serial console. My 2.6 kernel is compiled from OE and 
the tmp/work directory shows it has the version 
"collie-linux/linux-rp-2.6.18-r7". I connected my sharp serial console 
cable to my host, and fire up the kermit as my terminal. The startup 
messages looks fine, but become all the garbages finally. Screen shot here:

I am pretty sure my serial port on my host has no problem, since I am 
using it for another device without problem. The LCD on my Collie shows 
the same messages but without garbage. When I press the "cancel" button 
the LCD will print the line: "power.c: device-level power management is 
not supported yet". The host terminal will print the same line as well, 
but with a lot of garbage characters.

Here are the commands I used in the kermit:
C-Kermit>set line /dev/ttyS0
C-Kermit>set modem type none
C-Kermit>set carrier-watch off
C-Kermit>set flow-control none
C-Kermit>set speed 115200
/dev/ttyS0, 115200 bps
C-Kermit>connect

My host system is FC4 with kermit ver. 8.0.211. I have tired minicom 
also, but with no luck, same garbage output. Would anyone give me a 
helping hand or a pointer? I have googled the net and read the 
FAQ/Howtos but they do not give me any cue. Please let me know if I have 
missed any info. Thanks.
