So your card does'nt have a partition table.

AFAIK hdparm -t of -T is much better to test performance.

The kernel should not charge the battery. If you have the power cable 
connected, the zaurus don't need a battery.

This should be a userspace problem. Try killing apmd.

AFAIK. The alarms weren't working. And as nobody wanted to look into the 
ugly embedix code ...
I think the feature will be implemented at some future time.
