Yes, I've noticed it too, running 3.5.4.1-rc2 on my SL-C3000.

It's better than that on my machine. Maybe it's the difference in
hardware, but it could very well be the 2.6 kernel doing a better job.
Could you test 3.5.4.1-rc2 and report the results?
