AFAIK no one has added a JVM to OE yet, so no it doesn't have one. OZ is not orphaned. It's going on strong and will become part of the angstrom project when that gets up to a stable release. It's already had some alpha releases. Of course, angstrom totally burns the bridges to the Sharp ROM. It won't be compatible in any way with any of those old programs. Please put your blame in the correct place. The people who made the apps you want to use have orphaned *their* software and not attempted to build them for OZ. > But OZ's PIM apps are inferior (even the Sharp ones) Inferior in what way? Have you tried kopi? Have you tried GPE? Again, patches welcome (or even bb files for other Linux programs that you like better). > and > now I find that packages only a couple of years old won't run with the > newer OS. > Again, this is the fault of the people you bought this software from. OZ is happy to build Open Source programs but we can't rebuild proprietary programs and attempting to keep compatibility so that they'll run is not only an uphill battle but holds us back from moving in more exciting directions. OZ is now much faster, more stable, and far more customizable than the Sharp ROM or earlier OZ releases. This is because we've moved on while Sharp sits back in the stone ages. I'll mention again that this is an Open Source project and is in no way supported by Sharp. We're doing this in our free time because Sharp won't support the devices we love. If you can find Linux programs which do what you want but are not in OZ/OE, then *let us know* and we'll try to get them in. Once more, you're welcome to build your own image without softfloat and try to get your programs to work again. This is the beauty of Open Source. Lastly, I'll mention the Cacko ROM. It's a modified version of the Sharp ROM and so can still run programs written for the Sharp ROM, but it's been updated heavily. I don't use it, but then I find the Sharp ROM to be.....ancient and ill thought out. -- Justin Patrin ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
