It doesn't work with the original Sharp ROM (it's limited to 1 Gb cards because of 2.4 kernel). It works perfectly with OpenZaurus 3.5.4 with 2.16 kernel. Just pay attention to the type of card. The standard SD cards should work with no problems. Stay away from too cheap no-brand cards. The SDHC cards don't work at all.
