3.4.5.2 on tosa; no usb device (lsusb) on PC kernel 2.6.18

Dear All;

I see many similar problems on the list and other places, but alas, I
was not able to get any of the proposed fixes to work.

I have a freshly flashed tosa with 3.5.4rc2

I have  debian testing running on a laptop with a customized 2.6.18
kernel

I tried also with the cdc_subset driver on the PC.

on the Z, i have done the following:

rmmod ohci_hcd 
modprobe usbnet
modprobe g_ether


on the Z, usb0 shows up with ifconfig

Nothing shows up in dmesg or with lsusb on the PC.  This used to work,
so I don't _think_ the cable is dead. 

Directions towards which FM to R would be gladly accepted :-)
