Nothing shows up in dmesg or with lsusb on the PC.  This used to work,

I saw similar behavior  under kernel 2.6.17. In my case, the kernel sees the
Zaurus immediately after I plug some other device into another USB port (in
my case it was a camera).

I don't have this problem on 2.6.20.1, but I have problem that Zaurus gets
detected and then the usb connection resets. See the other thread on this
list.
